I need to know more about Reid’s love interest on Criminal Minds! PLEASE! — Corinne
You seem as eager to see this as I am. So here’s something to hold you over, straight from CM‘s exec producer Erica Messer: “It’s an opportunity to have a relationship like none other on television. It’s very old-fashioned and lovely and we’re all happy to go down this path with Reid in discovering this new part of himself.,” says Messer. “Matthew [Gray Gubler] is very involved in the development of this story and the casting. We felt it was most important for this to be someone that could be Reid’s equal and in a world where Reid has no equal, that was a difficult task.” My mind swirls with casting possibilities. But you go first…
Huge treat for Criminal Minds fans: EW has learned star Thomas Gibson will soon be stepping behind the camera for an episode in the show’s upcoming eighth season.
This will mark the first time Gibson has sat in the director’s chair on the CBS drama, but not his first time playing director. He previously helmed two episodes of Dharma & Greg, a show on which he starred opposite Jenna Elfman.
Remember JJ's first fight scene last year? Get ready for more of those — under even more perilous circumstances. "She's going to get into an interesting situation this year. It's gonna be a little worrisome," A.J. Cook tells us. "It's perhaps with an unsub. Perhaps she's the next one to be held captive." Uh-oh. But don't worry, a girl who roundhouse-kicks like JJ does will be just fine.
Criminal Minds executive producer Erica Messer wants to assure you that Jeanne Tripplehorn's Alex Blake will not stir up trouble in the BAU.
Tripplehorn will make her debut on the Season 8 premiere, filling the void left by Paget Brewster's Emily Prentiss, who exited in the season finale. And though Messer previously described Alex as a "threat" to the team, she clarifies that it's merely a case of a newbie joining a tightknit group.
