Dr. Reid embarks on his own investigation into the murder of a young boy years earlier in Las Vegas that he strongly believes has a connection to his own childhood.

- When Reid lets the team go back to Virginia without him under the pretense of spending time with his mother, he returns to his hotel room to discover Rossi and Morgan watching The Young and the Restless. They stay behind to help him.
- When JJ gives birth, Reid arrives and Will and the rest of the BAU leave the room. JJ hands her newborn son, Henry, to Reid, and asks him to be the godfather.

- Prentiss (with a hangover): "Morgan, can you--? Please, can you--? My head."
Morgan (playing slots): "My bad, sorry."
JJ (reaching for slots): "Oh, this thing still has credit on it."
Prentiss: "JJ, I swear to God--"
JJ: "What?"
(Rossi points to Prentiss and makes "drunk" gestures.)
- JJ (to Reid): "How is it that I just went through 15 hours of labor and you look worse than I do?"
- Garcia: "I'm not a doctor--I don't even play one on TV--but I believe that young JJ here is going into labor."
- Reid (sarcastically): Yeah he googled me. That makes up for everything.
- JJ: If anything should happen to us, it's up to you and Garcia to make sure that this boy gets into Yale.
Reid: Ooh Yale, Yale. Do you wanna go to Yale, Henry? That was your godfather's safety school. Don't worry, I can get you into Caltech with one phone call.
- Reid: (Walking into his apartment andfinds Morgan and Rossi eating and watching TV) What are you guys doing here?
Morgan: Hey, what does it look like we're doing?
Reid: Uh, breaking into my room and watching Days of Our Lives.

When Reid remembers playing chess with Michaels in the park, and his mother's comments about Michaels being around him.

Gary Brendan Michaels killed Riley Jenkins. Reid's mother saw him approach Reid and play a game of chess with him. She did not like the way he looked at Reid, so she told Riley's father. She accompanied Riley's father to Michaels' house, where she was able to identify him. Riley's father entered Michaels' home and beat him to death with a baseball bat. Reid's mother went inside and slipped in the blood, wiping it on her shirt. When she returned home, William Reid burned her clothing/evidence. Riley's father disposed of Michaels' body and it was discovered 10 years later at a construction site
