Having friends for the new year by Faith_b
Disclaimer: I believe Joss Whedon dreamed up the Sunnydale gang, not me *cries*…
Author's Notes: My apologies for the lateness, I thought I'd posted this already. Naked Eyes will be coming after the conclusion of Trials, which will be coming after the conclusion of Evan. Yup, gone and dug myself a hole there...
Feedback: Hit me… *Ducks*... Not all at once!
"I think I'm going blind just looking at it," Willow says. "I can't believe you won't just tell us who it's from. We're your bestest friends in the whole wide world."
B's about to answer when I walk up to her. We're stood in her garden and even though it's full of her guests, it feels like it's just the two of us there.
"Hey," she says to me.
"Hey," I say back. You can't even imagine how beautiful she looks. She's tied her hair back in a half-pony and is wearing this off-the shoulder deep red dress. She's absolutely amazing and I'm so proud she's mine. But, all I can really say is, "Great party."
To which all she can reply is, "Thank you."
I smile as if I want to say something else, but can't.
Her pals are looking at me, so I feel I should say something to them. "'Sup, you guys," I manage. But they look at me like I'm carrying a disease.
"Faith," Willow deadpans with no feeling.
Xander doesn't say anything, so I just look to B like I'm saying 'Later' and go back to my acquired posse. I'm pretending like I'm talking, but I can hear them from over here.
"I can't believe she had the guts to turn up," Xander says, glaring at me.
"Who does she think she is?" Red chips in. But B doesn't say anything. She's just been staring at me the whole time and I can see her from the corner of my eye.
"And what is she wearing anyway?" Red continues. "Could she leave a little less to the imagination?"
Hey!!!... Okay, I gotta admit, I am showing a little mid-section, but judging from his expression, Xander doesn't seem to mind. B tells them she'll "Be right back," and leaves the garden, making her way into the house.
That, I believe, is my cue. I tell my crew that I'm going to the restroom and follow her inside. I don't walk very far, 'cause she's waiting for me by the stairs.
"I'm sorry," I tell her. "I know you're off-limits tonight. I just needed to tell you how amazing you look."
"No, I'm sorry," Buffy admits. "I should have told them by now. I'm working on it."
"It's cool," I assure her. "'Sides, I like sneaking around."
She looks kinda sad. "I don't," she says. She sighs, slipping in, "Who's the girl you came with tonight?"
Uh-oh. "Buffy, I told you I was bringing a date."
She goes quiet and then says, "She's very pretty. What's her name?"
Did I say uh-oh? Because, UH-OH!! "Marissa," I answer.
"Huh. Does she go to UC S?"
"Yeah. Go figure. She just transferred from Orange County."
She nods. Is she about to tear up? I hold her.
"Seriously, baby, she's no-one. I'm just keeping up appearances, y'know. I thought you were okay with that."
"I am," she says, looking everywhere but at me.
I go to lock eyes with her and ask, "You sure?"
"Yeah." She fakes a smile and says, "C'mon, let's go upstairs," Taking me by the hand.
I let her pull me up, then spin her around; pulling her down and pinning her to the steps beneath us.
Smirking, I lean down on her. "Where do you think you're going?" I ask, grabbing her by her leg and pulling her down toward me.
Looking up in surprise, she asks me, "Here?"
I straddle her legs and lift her dress by its hem. "What do you think?" I say back.
"Faith, no. Someone could walk in and see us any moment now."
"I know," I reply, kissing her. "Don't it make you horny jus' picturin' it." I lean down to kiss her again and she turns from me.
Talk about buzz-kill.
"What?" I ask.
"Faith, I wanna go and tell them."
"Can't we do it after we…" I wiggle my eyebrows. "Do it. We'll feel *a lot* more relaxed."
She shakes her head. "I can't stand another minute of not being able to be with you properly."
I roll my eyes.
"Plus," she continues. "You can say goodbye to that… that hussie."
"Huh?" Oh. "Is *that* why you're all wanting to tell your friends now?"
"What?" She scoffs. "No."
"Admit it – the green eyed monster is rearing its ugly head!"
"No it's not," she says back. "You said it means nothing and I trust you."
Oh. Okay then.
"Unless," she adds. "It does mean something. Just how far do you have to 'keep up appearances'?"
"Aw c'mon, baby," I say, joking. "It'd look a little suspicious if I didn't kiss and grope her a little."
Now it's her turn to roll her eyes. "Yeah, I forgot you were a big sleaze."
"I'm a sleaze? I came in here for a quickie with my girlfriend. One that WITH HER PERMISSION, I coulda had with my date. I think that's pretty un-sleazey."
"Whatever, Faith. Let's just get on with it." She reaches for me.
"Get on with it?!?"
"Yeah," she replies, taking hold of my top.
"No," I refuse, forcing her to let go. "I'm not in the mood anymore." Yeah, so I'm a woman too.
"Faith, you're always in the mood."
"Er, no I'm not, because I'm not in the mood now!"
"Fine!" She says, pushing me off her and storming off.
UGH!! What the fuck just happened?? I follow after her and head back into her garden. I lock eyes with her as I walk past her and her friends and to my date.
"You're back," Marissa says, taking my hand.
"Yeah," I say, drawing her close. "What time is it?"
"Still fourty-five minutes to go."
"That's a shame," I say, looking for and holding Buffy's gaze. "I'm *really* looking forward to kissing you at midnight."
Marissa moves in closer to me and whispers, "You could kiss me right now."
And I'm not gonna lie to you, for a moment, I feel like doing it. Just to see what she tastes like. Feel her body pressed up against mine and everyone's eyes on the two of us. But, the look on B's face puts me off. She turns away and starts talking to Xander.
Next time maybe she'll re-think being a bitch, huh?
"Hold that thought," I say, catching sight of Spike walking outside from the house. He does a quick scan of the garden, missing me and so heads for Buffy. I go over to them.
"Faith," he says, when I get there.
"What's wrong?" Buffy asks him, acting like I'm not there.
"What else? Demons," he answers.
"Do you need me to-" Buffy starts.
"Faith'll do, love. You just enjoy your party."
He cocks his head toward the house and I shrug, following him through the house and out the front door.
"Nicely done," I tell him. Pointing out my car to him. He spots it and I toss him the keys.
"This is yours?!!" He asks. "Bloody hell, Slayer."
"I know. Buffy got it for me. Ain't it sweet?"
He gets in and starts it up. "I could get used to this."
I laugh and take the passenger seat.
"It's here. I can feel it." Spike tells me coming to a stop in the dark alley and inhaling the air.
"Let's go," I tell him.
He walks forward, disappearing in front of my eyes.
I reach out and watch my hand disappear from in front of me.
I take a deep breath and walk forward.
We appear in a small, dank room. Walking past bodies just littered all over the ground, we reach a closed door and Spike knocks.
"I'm busy!" We hear. "Come back later."
"It's Faith," I reply.
The door swings open and as soon as I enter, I'm hit by this wicked nasty smell. I look down and see a guy whose body is burning by an open fire. Our host looks to us and laughs.
"My apologies," he says. "I wasn't expecting company."
I put my hands up to tell him I'm not bothered. "To each his own, man. I was in the neighbourhood; thought I'd stop by and stock up."
"How would you like it?"
"The books attract less attention."
"Books it is," he says leaving us. Walking past Spike, he acknowledges him by calling his name.
"Rack," Spike replies.
"What is it with you two?" I ask when Rack's gone.
"Don't like the bloke," Spike answers bending down to kneel beside the burning body. "You reckon his blood's hot?" He asks me, practically undressing the body with his eyes.
He picks up the body, sinking his teeth into it. Drawing the blood, he drops the thing and spits out. "This guy's been dead for some time," he concludes.
Rack comes back into the room, facing me with the books.
"Thanks, man." I tell him, letting Spike get them for me.
"Now," the warlock says, taking me by the shoulders. "For my reward."
He places his hand on my chest and I black out.
I wake up and my head's messed up. I feel like the world's spinnin' triple time around me. I can make out that I'm in my car, but I can't remember why. Everything looks wicked fuzzy.
I shake my head and I'm pretty much snapped back to reality when I feel a hand running up my thigh. I look to my right and see Spike near drooling all over me.
"What the hell are you doing?" I ask, pushing him back over to his side of the car.
"You just look so cute when you're sleeping, pet."
I roll my eyes. "I'm engaged, man. Pretty soon, I'm gonna be promisin' Buffy that I'm gonna be faithful to her no matter what – I ain't gonna break that promise."
He leers at me, cupping his cock through his leather pants. "You're aroused." He sniffs the air. "I can smell it."
"Yeah, well I had an encounter with B earlier."
He shakes his head. "Scent's new, Love."
I glare at him, ordering he, "Shut up and drive."
He starts up the car and I reach into my glove for some smokes. Lord knows I need 'em real bad right about now.
We walk into the Summers' house and Buffy's waiting for us. She doesn't say anything; she just motions for us to go upstairs. When we get to her room, she turns and stops. She looks from me to Spike and back to me. "Everything okay?" She asks me, looking worried.
"Five by five."
She exhales a sigh of relief and looks to Spike, "So you're still here, `cause…"
Spike looks to me to defend him, but I just shrug. Her party, her rules, man.
"Fine." He scoffs. "I had other plans anyway."
"Bye, Spike." B adds insult to injury. She walks into her room and lets me in, closing the door behind me. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry about earlier," she says.
Earlier? There was something to be sorry about? "It's all forgotten, babe."
"This is all just so messed up." She sits on the edge of her bed. "I really, really want to tell everyone. I even put the ring on, just so they'd ask… But I can't find the words to explain."
"How `bout, 'Hey, I'm gay'?" I offer. "It's poetic… It rhymes."
"Faith, I'm being serious."
So was I.
"I can't just announce it, like it's not a big deal. This is huge."
I pace. "You could just tell them you're engaged to me and they'll pretty much figure it out for themselves. I'm pretty sure your mom will be way madder that you're getting hitched without her having officially met the groom… Wait, am I 'the groom'?"
She looks at me with that look. Y'know the look a woman gives you when she can't understand why you're being such an ass…
I kneel in front of her and take her hand. She wants serious, I'll give it to her.
"I'm sorry," I start. "Would I like you to tell your friends and family about us? Sure. But what the hell do I know? My family's all the way in Missouri; I don't have to deal like you are. So I get it and I'm cool with it." I hold her. "And I'll wait for you as long as you want me to."
She doesn't look so sure. "Are you sure you're not just saying that because you're enjoying the 'single' life?"
Still holding her hand, I lightly run my thumb over hers, look into her eyes and say, "Buffy, I want *you*."
"What about Miss OC downstairs?"
I smile. "I'm not thinking about her. But you seem to be an awful lot tonight. You sure you don't want me to hook you guys up?"
"Now you're being silly."
"About as silly as you're being, Beautiful. Look, I'm here with you, aren't I?" I go to kiss her. I moan when our lips make contact and tell her, "I'm right where I wanna be."
I kiss her again, but not fully; just enough to get her good and going. I pull back and take a look at her, running my eyes up and down her body. I growl.
"Did I already tell you how hot you look tonight? `Cause you look good enough to eat."
I lower my voice and ask, "Can I eat you, Buffy?"
She slides off the bed and into my lap, crossing her arms behind my head.
I wrap my arms around my honey and reach for the zipper on her dress.
"I almost feel bad undressing you," I say, lowering the zip and exposing her back to the air.
She kisses me, lowering my hand from her back to her ass. I squeeze her and flip us, so B's lying on her back underneath me.
I reach up, under the hem of her dress and rub her pussy over her thong, flicking my tongue on her neck at the same time. I can feel her wetness through the satin and it's fucking me up. I don't let on though. I just grit my teeth and watch my woman writhe under me.
"Damn, Buffy, I hardly even touched you and you're already soaking."
"Faith," she moans, her eyes tightly shut.
"You're about ready to-"
"Take it off," she orders.
"What, this?" I ask reaching under her and taking hold of her panties. She nods and in a swift motion, I rid her of her lingerie. I rub the inside of her thigh and she calls out my name. I can feel her cum all over my hand; it's fluid, it's sticky, it's nasty and, "So fuckin' tasty," I whisper and go in for the kill. I place soft kisses on the inside of her thighs, working my way up to her snatch.
I run my tongue from her ass up to clit, taking the nub in my mouth and sucking on it. She rides my face in earnest; fucking my tongue when I slip it inside her. "Oh God," she groans.
I feel her arousal all over my face; her cum running down my throat… and it's a little hard to breathe. I replace my mouth with my fingers and crawl back up her body, kissing her lips whilst I finger her.
She whispers in my ear that she's gonna come and moments later, she does. Buffy goes still; her only movement the rising and falling of her chest.
Another satisfied customer to add to my list of them :)
"It's almost midnight," I tell her, getting up and straightening my hair and clothes. "People are gonna start wondering where you are."
She looks down at her crumpled mess of an outfit. "I have to find something else to wear. I'll see you down there?"
"Yeah," I tell her. Checking in her vanity that I'm still lookin' good. I turn to her. "Hey, if I don't get to tell you later, Happy New Year, Beautiful."
"Happy New Year," she says, not looking at me as she says it. I nod and leave her in her room.
I get it. It's eating her up that everyone's gonna be kissing their honeys come midnight, but B and I will probably be on opposite ends of her garden. It's the way she wants it… It's the way she made it.
I get outside and look for Marissa. Poor girl. This probably qualifies as the worst date ever. Yet, she don't seem all that pissed to see me.
"Hey, there you are."
"Here I am," I say to her.
"Just in time," she says, handing me a glass of what looks like Champagne.
I hear a loud clanking of a glass and look over. It's Mrs. S and she's looking at her watch. She waits a sec and then starts everyone on a countdown. She waves her hand so everyone joins in.
"Ten… Nine… Eight…"
The backdoor to the house opens and I see Buffy. She walks out into the garden and I smile at her.
"Seven… Six… Five…"
She walks over to me and stands in front of me.
"Four… Three… Two."
She snakes her arm around my torso, pulls me down and kisses me full on; no holds barred. I'm so stunned, I can't speak when she lets me go.
"One. Happy New Year," she says to me.
And I hear a pin drop.
